Safeguarding
Keeping children, families and volunteers safe is at the heart of everything we do.
Our commitment
Jehovah-jireh Baby Bank believes that every child and adult has the right to be safe from harm, abuse and neglect. We take our responsibility to safeguard the families we support seriously, and we expect all trustees, volunteers and partners to share this commitment.
How we keep people safe
- A written Safeguarding Policy, reviewed annually by our trustees
- A named Designated Safeguarding Lead and a lead trustee for safeguarding
- Safer recruitment, including references and DBS checks for roles involving contact with families
- Safeguarding training for all volunteers as part of induction
- Working through professional referrers who can respond to wider family needs
- Clear procedures for recording and reporting concerns
Product safety
The safety of the items we provide is just as important. Every piece of equipment is inspected against a checklist and cleaned before it is passed on. We follow safe-sleep guidance from recognised UK safe-sleep charities and:
- Only provide new cot and Moses basket mattresses
- Never pass on second-hand car seats
- Check items for recalls, missing parts, damage and wear
- Do not provide cot bumpers, pillows, duvets or sleep positioners for babies

If you have a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child or adult connected to our work, please contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead by emailing JehovahjirehBaby@hotmail.com (subject: “Safeguarding — confidential”) or calling 07507 773078.
